Boot.Camp

Once upon a time there was a girl. When she was younger she didn’t really think about calorie consumption and exercise…primarily because she was young and healthy without much effort on her part. Then one day the girl got married and had a baby. That baby made her get so fat. J But eventually she was able to buckle down and lose that weight…vowing to either not have any more kids OR be more disciplined. On the VERY DAY she reached her lowest weight since that baby, she found out she was pregnant again. The hormones eventually took over and she went crazy and gained another 60 lbs. So now having broken both vows she tried to happily embrace her new ‘fuller’ figure. But one day she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror (not her own because that mirror made her look okay). She was sad and again vowed to lose weight. She signed up for a BOOT CAMP and excitedly counted down the days. Then on June 1st she got up bright and early and headed to boot camp! 5:30 a.m. sharp. And then she died.

~ The end ~

Okay, so she didn’t actually die in the literal sense BUT she was in such bad shape she got tendonitis in her Achilles tendon and can’t go back. The doctor recommended physical therapy – isn’t that a form of boot camp? :-)

Errrrrrtttttttttt!

We finally put the brakes on a super busy weekend. I'm exhausted from all my volunteering - something that troubles me greatly should I need to re-enter the workforce any time soon. I don't know how I will survive working an 8 hour day. It's like my body forgot...

So, Friday was TK's school "Tigerthon". The kids train for months running and then get pledges and see how many laps they can run. I volunteered to mark shirts for the kindergarten portion and somehow ended up working the entire day!

Saturday we got up early and had breakfast out. I then went with my mom and grandmother to 'Neath the Wreath - lots of walking in bad shoes. As soon as I got home I changed and went back to TK's school for their carnival where once again I ended up in volunteer mode in their class booth. Today, TK and I went to see Madagascar and he had a playdate (at our house) from 3:30 -7:30.

And somehow after all of that, nobody but me is tired...WTH?

How can this be?

There is nothing blogworthy in my life right now. Is that possible?

Actually there's quite a bit, but I'm holding out for the National Enquirer to pick up the story...

No. Not really.

I wonder if there's a hole in my stomach

I was stuck yesterday with a heck of a migraine and nothing to take. I'm not on a daily med right now and had no medication to arrest the headache.

So, I'm just wondering if my homemade (read: desperation) remedy of One (1) 800 mg Ibuprofen, Two (2) Excedrin Migraine, Four (4) aspirin and One (1) Robaxin that Todd was prescribed for his shoulder, in addition to an aromatherapy bath - capped off by a freezing water head rinse and about a gallon of water to drink will have any lasting effects on me...?

Don't you wish?

Remember this post?

Don't you wish you could do it with the laundry, too?

This basket has a twin. All clean. But not quite folded. Just waiting for someone to give it the attention it deserves.

Lucky to be alive

Hate the new placement of furniture. Todd asked me to give it 2 weeks I countered with 2 hours...

Will be moving the furniture back...by myself...ASAP...

What kind of girl did my mama raise?

One that picked up the end of a couch and helped her husband carry it down the curved staircase. And then a chair. And then helped rearrange every piece of furniture downstairs, including two couches, two chairs, 4 or 5 tables and a freakin' piano. That's what kind.

I will admit that it was my idea and so I was sort of obligated to help...right? The adrenaline kicked in during the heavy lifting and now that it's worn off and the lactic acid is seeping in to my forearms, I'm in some serious pain. So much that I can't even lift the laundry basket to take it upstairs...

P.S. The lactic acid is not really responsible for my pain, I'm just not willing to fully admit that I overshot my muscular ability...by a lot.

Considering the circumstances...

Only God could have been responsible...

I passed my certification test!!!!!

Whew. I was 100% convinced I failed. So much so that I had already scheduled to take the paper test on 8/2.

The whole story to come.

It's a GIRL!

At least according to TK.

I dropped TK off at school this morning and his teacher Ms. Ashley spotted me. She gave me "the look". That's usually the "I need to talk to you" followed by "TK did such and such to so and so" look. So I'm always nervous.

So she came over with that weird smile on her face and got really close, spoke really softly and said

"Are you pregnant?"

I was like "NO!" "Are you?"

"Yes. But TK told me you were, too. He said that you were pregnant and that y'all already knew what you were having and it was a girl and everyone is so excited".

Where did he come from? For real...

I must admit that I'm not surprised since about 4 months ago he saw an episode of Aurthur where Binky's parents adopted a baby girl from China. I spent the next month assuring classmates mother's that we were NOT adopting a baby from China...

A mind like a steel trap, that one... and an imagination that can't be measured. I'm proud and all, but can it just stop involving me being pregnant or raising another baby? Seriously.

Are you this lazy?

Have you ever re-run the clean dishes in the dishwasher just to avoid having to unload the dishwasher? So that hopefully when it's finished your spouse will be home and finally take his turn unloading the dishwasher...

If you ain't no punk, holla we want prenup!

5 wha?

My next endeavor...

Adventure Boot Camp

Just counting calories and walking and running a bit have helped shed 8lb, but I'm ready for some serious weight loss and I think that demands adding some real exercise to the program. I'm trying to convince Todd that it would be a great birthday present...you know, to pay for me to not be fat anymore, haha.

I got my hair did

Yep, I got my hair did. Picture Diane Sawyer, more mullet-ish with some I can't identify this fluff on one side.

I KNOW!!!

It pretty much sucks and it was expensive. My girl, Lauren, who I normally love, really sucked it up this time. I was pretty specific but I think she had her own ideas. Further validating that my life is just a series of one bad hairdo after another. Unfortunately I'm going to have to find someone to fix what she did and that means that it's even going to be shorter. I like short hair, but this sets in motion one of my biggest biggest pet peeves...when women get a "short, easy do"...post-baby - BLECH!

I will post a real picture when I figure how to capture the true essence of my awesomeness, but for now I leave you with what I wanted...and what I got. Enjoy!

Dilemma of the day

Nothing and everything to do with kiddos

Now that we have decided that two kids are enough - we each have our own to hold in the family photos - it's time to get S-E-R-I-O-U-S about losing this baby weight. It's been 10 weeks and it's really starting to look unsightly. My tailbone still hurts so bad I want to smack someone every time I have to sit on a hard surface, so that's been my excuse for not really throwing myself into physical fitness, but I really want to get this off quickly because, well, I am 35 and we all know what happens when you turn 35...you die shortly after.

So, anyway...yesterday on the way home from my parents house we stopped by the new Lifetime Fitness in our neighborhood to check it out since they have great swimming facilities. On the tour, the sales advisor was walking me around the classes upstairs and happened to sidestep me in front of the mirrors and horror of all horrors - I got a glimpse of myself in the dreaded gym mirrors. I could not believe how seriously big I look or am - one or the other or both. I was surprised since my trusty home mirror says to me every day "GIRL - you lost 30 lbs - now you still have about 35 more to go it's true, BUT a size 24 looks good on ya! You gon' be turnin' heads ta-day". And I leave the house feeling remarkably good about myself. :-)

The gym was great. Kyle was kind enough to leave a guest pass at the front desk so that I can go tonight and swim and huff my way through a spinning class (wait for it - NO!) and see if I like the facility- which I'm sure I will (anywhere with 5 dedicated lap lanes is good enough for big mama). So, now just got to find a suit, goggles, cap to protect my highlights (they are all I have right now) and a good, healthy dose of humility to swallow the pain the cellulite causes to the pride and I'm all SET!!!!!
