Pictures of what keeps us busy

TK's rock climbing universe tour...it'll work as long as that snappy belayer comes along...and continues to act like a bored 16 year old who loves her job.

See that chair behind me with the baby booster seat in it? Well at 18 months I think I'm too big to sit in that chair to eat so I will only sit in a big chair or I'll starve myself and throw all my food on the floor. Just making it easy for my parents.

It never gets old

Holding a brand new baby, that is. (Please ignore my appearance and the bra strap that just won't be hidden) and look at the sweetest baby face since April 24, 2007. (That's the day the little one was born) :-)

Whatever, dude.

Took the kids to the Science Museum today and it was totally awesome. Pictures when I recover from that outing.

I will go ahead and put this out there. 90% of parents and kids are annoying. I'm just saying. I'm sure I'm in someone else's 90% and I'm okay with that. But for real.

Stealing? or just borrowing because it's funny!

I borrowed this from a site that I stalk. These are good for a rainy day...

1. I would love to have this sense of humor
2. Now I'll start looking for my own
3. If you love Photoshop, you'll love the this one

Just a little something to bookmark and go to when you run out of things to look at on the computer, but you don't want to fold the laundry either...

Holy Schmo!

I'm a parent to a 5 year old!

Today is TK's 5th birthday and I'm still absorbing the fact that 5 years old = kindergarten in just over 6 months!

The day began not as great as I would have hoped and as usual I shoulder a good deal of the blame for that.

I think birthdays are a REALLY big deal. I mean, sure, there could be 100,000 other people in the world with your same birthday, but I consider it to be your special day. It was the day that God chose to give you breath so we make them special.

In keeping with that I made sure that this morning Todd got up and got TK his favorite Top Pot Old Fashioned Chocolate Donut from Starbucks AND he had one gift to open with breakfast. But what actually happened is that it took Todd a long time on the errand, Teeks woke up early AND on the wrong side of the bed, ended up in time out (his first ever 5 minute time out) and threw his gift during a small tantrum over getting dressed.

So after some thought where I considered having him continue the rest of his childhood living in the backyard or possibly sending him to France to live with another family, we made him go back to his room in the dark and get in bed and restart the day. He cried and resisted, but managed to turn the day around..and left the house in 3 different patterns of camo and flashing Spiderman shoes. If you see him, no he did not escape from a home and yes he does have the gift of sight.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to Tee-eeks!
Happy Birthday to you!

MotherLoad

There will be hair drama this afternoon, but for now check out this new link to MomAdvice - specifically the MotherLoad and MotherLoot blogs. It's a good read and a great resource.

How did you know what I was thinking?

I started my new devotional on New Year's Day and now on day 11 I have been re-amazed at how every single day - when I read my devotional (at the day's end) how truly perfectly it summed up my day and how it pertained - just right - to all the things I'm struggling with right now. I say re-amazed because it seems like each time I come back to spending this time in quiet reflection with God I'm really comforted to see that nothing has changed.

I said GO and they WENT!

YAY! YAY! YAY! YAY!

Tyler even went out front and rang the bell after the game! So exciting! I'm sure that my neighbors think I'm not all there. I mean I was sitting at the desk in the kitchen office in front of a laptop screaming and jumping and actin' a fool...can't even imagine what that looked like from the back windows...

I'm crossing my fingers for a bowl bid, preferrably Shreveport or Memphis so we can go!!!!

GO STATE!

In Texas the only way to watch the game is on the computer on ESPN 360...but who cares - at least it's on.

GO STATE!!!!!!!!!

1$ goes a long way

Saturday morning walks are becoming more frequent now that it's cooling off some. We normally pass more than one garage sale in our neighborhood and each one is an opportunity for Tiki to prove that someone else's trash really is someone else's treasure...

This particular Saturday, Teeks sacrificed $2 of our hard earned money for a small floor pinball machine and an original VHS 25th anniversary edition of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory...

As we were watching Tiki was eating a small box of Nerds from the Halloween bucket (I know - it's the 20th) and realized that Wonka candy is real.

"Mommy, Wally Wonka is real. This is a real show about a real candy maker."

"Yes, TK, there really is a WILLY Wonka candy company."

"So, then are those Oompa Loompas real?"

More than a pretty face

This is pretty cool. Todd sister Courtney is married to Erik. This article is about his sister, Anja. She's cool in so many ways, but first and foremost because her life's work is dedicated to pediatric AIDS. Amazing, inspiring woman!
